Our Group
The Monday Group, established in August 2018, has been a cherished and ongoing support for those who attend. Guided by regular suggestions with participants and their carers, the Group provides an important social outlet and much-needed respite for carers and their families.
The Group is facilitated by three dedicated staff members, with the support of a valued volunteer when needed. We have average attendance of 9 to 10 participants each week. The attendees, who are primarily former carers or those who were cared for, greatly benefit from the weekly gatherings, enjoying both the social interaction and psychological support. They eagerly anticipate these outings and the opportunity to meet with others.
Each week, clients are collected from their homes by car. We make a point of contacting them or their carers on the day to confirm the plans and provide details on the destination and who will be picking them up. Regular consultations with the members help shape the weekly outings, which are often planned a few weeks in advance. Typically, we visit local hotels or larger cafés, where everyone can sit together at one table, enhancing the friendly, communal atmosphere. The sense of care, understanding, and companionship among the group is truly special and adds to the enjoyment of these outings.
